Literature Text

Heed Me
As I dare to Travel my Path,
Shadowed by Death,
From Beginning to End.
Heed me
As I dare to stand My ground
'Gainst Evil of
Family, Friends, Peers and World.
Heed me
As I dare to tread Ground
Upon Earth
No one thought to lay two fingers upon.
Heed me
As I go Forth
To Dream the dreams
That I've Yearned for.
Heed Us,
The Trusted,
The Loved,
The Hated,
And the People people want to Take Bullets For,
Heed Us
While we Cry and Sing
As we Scream and Shout,
As we Chant and Pout,
Heed us,
For we are the Devotees to the faithful,
We Have no Hope in Humanity -
We know Better,
There's Hope in Every Single Man and Woman.
This one was actually published in my High School's reliquary.

I wrote this during my late Freshman year of High School. I felt on top of the world, but at the same time, I couldn't shake this feeling that the people I knew still saw me as the really shy, cute baby-faced Asian kid with super grades. Let's just say I was pretty distinct in a relatively ghetto middle school. I was becoming my own person, and I wrote this to exemplify that I wanted people to realize that.
I also wrote this in my desire for people to treat each other as equals. It was maddening to watch people get pushed around, and not have the strength to help them both literally and figuratively. I started lifting weights regularly after writing this. Funny how that works out.

I love this poem, but it's kinda shallow. :p
